I love words.
I love the way they can capture and express emotions and memories and thoughts. I love how they can be used to speak truth into people’s lives, tell stories, or describe the radiant glow of a sunset.
I love art.
More generally speaking, I love creativity. I love how human creativity reflects our Creator. As he created everything, “saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good (Genesis 1:31)”, in a much, much smaller way, we do that too – look at that which he have just created and feel a sense of satisfaction. Art, for me, is an act of worship. When I put pen to paper and start drawing, I am doing one of the many things that God created me to do. It gives me deep pleasure. It causes me to marvel at how amazing God is, that He created the eye, the mind, and the hand (and everything else), and created them to function together to make things.
words + art = handlettering
When I discovered the art of handlettering (thanks Pinterest), I was in love, and I began teaching myself how to do it. I know there is improvement to be had, but I’ve improved a lot since when I first began. Here I will display my work and maybe blog about techniques and arts supplies I use, and other things.
